Dear Fellow Parishioners:
Since Saturday, June 27, 2015, I have had the privilege of serving as your deacon. When I received the Sacrament of Holy Orders that Saturday morning, I publically promised to pray for the Church and for "the whole world" at least twice daily under penalty of sin – so know that you are in my prayers and the prayers of our other parish clergy. Please remember us in yours.
St. Dominic is my family's home parish, and I am grateful to have been assigned here. Christine and I have four children, all of whom have been enrolled in our parish school, and we have been Lakeview residents since 2009.
In getting to know the 18 other men in my ordination class, I gained a new appreciation for St. Dominic. It’s not every parish that is as vibrant and full of life as ours – bustling with families and devoted parishioners of every age that are meaningfully invested in our church, our school, and our community. It is truly a gift.
Please feel free to get in touch with me if I can help you or your family in any way. My cell phone number is in the bulletin, and my e-mail address is [email protected]. Our pastor has assigned me to help lead our parish's outreach to the homebound and the sick. If you or someone from our parish you know is homebound or sick (in the hospital, assisted living, nursing care, hospice, etc.), please make sure we are aware of it. Or if you’d like to help, or have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know that, too.
I make myself available to you. I’m your deacon. Don’t hesitate to call about a baptism, getting married, marriage troubles, having your marriage blessed, the sick/homebound, for a house blessing, just to talk, or for any reason at all.
St. Dominic de Guzmán – pray for us.
In the Risen Lord,
Deacon Jody Fortunato
